History. Geneva Business School - GSB (not to be confused with "BSG - Business School Geneva Sàrl, at Bellevue, Swiss Canton of Geneva" registerd in 2006) may be described as the merged institution between the spin-off by IFGP's (L'Institut de Formation de Gestionnaire de Patrimoine "The Training Institute for Asset Managers" established in 1995) of University of Finance Cie. (UF) created in June 2001 by IFGP specializing in banking and insurance education for leadership functions, and GBI (Geneva Business Institute Cie., a small private school specialized in management, registered by the Canton of Geneva as a joint stock company on 07 June 2002.
Location. Geneva Business School is located neare the heart of the international neighborhood rightfully known as 'Nations', between the WTO (World Trade Organization) and the UN (United Nations). Geneva, tucked away in the southwestern corner of the Alpine republic, bordering Savoy, France, is a historical and global city, a financial centre, and worldwide centre for diplomacy due to the presence of numerous international organizations, including the headquarters of many of the agencies of the United Nations and the Red Cross. Geneva is the city that hosts the highest number of international organisations in the world. It is also the place where the Geneva Conventions were signed, which chiefly concern the treatment of wartime non-combatants and prisoners of war.
Geneva ranks as the world's ninth most important financial centre for competitiveness by the Global Financial Centres Index, ahead of Frankfurt, and third in Europe after London and Zurich. A 2009 survey by Mercer found that Geneva has the third-highest quality of life of any city in the world (behind Vienna and Zurich for expatriates; it is narrowly outranked by Zurich). In 2009 and 2011, Geneva was also ranked as the fourth and fifth most expensive cities in the world.
